Irvine had most recently been chief administrative officer of Digitas Inc., a digital marketing company. She replaces Scott Meyer, who departed March 6.
Irvine will lead the Times' About Group, which includes About, ConsumerSearch, UCompareHealthCare and Calorie-Count. She will report to Martin Nisenholtz, the company's head of digital operations.
